The world’s leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for an Armed Nuclear ISFSI Security Officer . An Armed Nuclear ISFSI Security Officer provides physical protection of nuclear Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) facilities against intrusion and acts of sabotage. In this role, you will conduct ISFSI surveillance, control access and/or egress of personnel, vehicles and materials, monitor plant surveillance equipment and alarm systems, compose reports and deter criminal activity, misconduct, and safety violations. You will also respond to medical, fire, and hazard emergencies as required and perform other duties as specified in nuclear training and qualification plan, site procedures, and post orders.

Role Responsibility:
  • Maintain compliance with all site policies, procedures, and directives
  • Assess alarms, investigate and report suspicious activities and/or circumstances
  • Identify safety and/or fire hazards and make recommendations for improvement
  • Report degradation, deficiencies and accidents in accordance with current procedures and take appropriate corrective actions as directed by security force supervision
  • Control access of personnel, vehicles and materials into the protected area and maintain appropriate log
  • Perform all site and fire watch patrols and maintain appropriate logs
  • Perform site maintenance as directed to include but not limited to snow removal, garbage removal, housekeeping, and landscaping duties
  • Perform compensatory postings and escort duties as directed by security force supervision and in accordance with current procedures and directives
  • Perform surveillance tests and inspections and test alarm and maintain appropriate logs
  • Work varying shifts to cover a 24-hour/seven-day a week operation including mandatory overtime
  • Respond to contingency events in accordance with appropriate procedures and as directed by security force supervision
  • Participate in security drills, practical exercises and required training programs as directed
  • Maintain periodic qualification of academic requirements including (radiation protection, access authorization, emergency plan, etc.)

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing
  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required
  • Although not required, m ilitary, law enforcement, or security supervisor/management experience is a plus!

  • Must be at least 21 years old or minimum age required by State
  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Must be able to pass an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment/education verifications, and driving and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
  • Upon acceptance of a job offer, must be able to pass the following:
    • Security and Training Qualification Plan requirements
    • Thermodynamic and heat transfer theory as applicable to ISFSI operations
    • Nuclear decay heat generation applicable to ISFSI storage
    • Criticality considerations applicable to ISFSI storage
    • Health Physics/Radiation protection
    • Equipment design features and operating characteristics of ISFSI structures and components
    • ISFSI Technical Specifications and selected operating emergency and administrative features
  • Pass the following, post-offer in accordance with the code of federal regulations for armed nuclear security assignment (10CFR, Appendix B):
    • MMPI - Psychological testing, if armed or otherwise required
    • Physical Exams, including vision and hearing, in accordance with nuclear regulatory requirements and site training and qualification plan
    • Physical fitness (agilities) test in accordance with site training and qualification plan
    • Firearms qualification with handgun, shotgun and rifle per client contract and site training and qualification plan
    • Nuclear site specific training and testing providing general knowledge of nuclear power generation science and principles, plant rules, regulations, communications, and access. Training and testing will include radiation worker principles including respirator training, fit and dress out.
