Responsible for all Interim Life Safety Measures inspections and up-keeping of all Fire Safety Equipment (Extinguishers, Hoses, Smoke Detectors, etc.). Maintains appropriate documentation and timely reports according to Joint Commission and NFPA Standards. Managing the CCTV Security Systems. Assists the Supervisory staff with the Security Officers evaluation in performance of duties. Ensures the Safety and Security of patients, staff, visitors, students, the physical plant, equipment and supplies.

Principal Duties and Essential Functions include:

  • Understands and exemplifies the values of New England Baptist Hospital and the ROSE Philosophy
  • Understands and adheres to NEBH policies and compliance standards as they appear in the NEBH Organizational Policies and Procedures , including but not limited to the NEBH Compliance Policy, Code of Business Conduct, Attendance, and Dress to Impress policies.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state, Joint Commission and NEBH regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Ensures that supervised staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adhereance to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  • Any other function or responsibility as assigned
  • Assumes the responsibility for all safety and security problems which occur during his/her tour of duty:
  • a. Makes spontaneous judgments relating to possible legal problems, as well as general maintenance procedures.
    b. Appropriately assumes the responsibility for key control during assigned shifts.

  • Assists with the supervision of employees engaged in providing security services for the hospital:

    a. Interviews, trains, and evaluates employees reporting to him/her according to policy.
    b. Adequately assigns security officers to designated areas and provides relief personnel as necessary.
    c. Arranges for personnel replacement when a Security Officer becomes ill or otherwise incapacitated during his/her tour of duty.
  • d. Appropriately maintains work schedules for Security Officers assigned to his/her shift.
    e. Oversees distribution of departmental equipment and issued items such as uniforms and the maintenance thereof. 8. Assumes certain management responsibilities as assigned:

  • Ensures all required reports are adequately completed and processed at the termination of his/her shift.
  • Appropriately enforces all policies and procedures related to the Security Department.
  • Follows established administrative procedures on situations or problems arising during his/her shift.
  • Reports problems, relating to the general operation of the hospital to the Director of Security.
  • Participates in continuing education as required.
  • 9. Meets departmental requirements for adherence to specific behavioral factors:

  • Observes the hospital uniform dress code and wears identification name pin at all times.
  • Exhibits a positive attitude when dealing with others. Demonstrates a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all members of the department.
  • Handles telephone information with courtesy, accuracy, and respect. Receives information and distributes messages as necessary.
  • Consistently coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift.
  • Is flexible, willing to adjust schedule to meet needs of the department, is not resistant to change.
  • Consistently demonstrates a concern for cleanliness of self and work area.
  • Demonstrates a complete understanding of the hospital fire and safety procedures as outlined in the Fire and Safety Manual, and knows his/her role.
  • Observes hospital policy concerning smoking regulations and other related rules governing conduct while at work.
  • Consistently strives to be a productive member of the institution.
  • Accepts and understands instructions and constructive criticism with appropriate change in behavior.
  • Seeks direction necessary for accurate completion of duties and development of skills.
  • Demonstrates tact and diplomacy when handling difficult visitors or employees. Leads by professional example.
  • 10. Plans time away from work appropriately

  • Arrives and leaves at designated times.
  • Uses unplanned earned time appropriately (Based on full time hours. Standards are pro-rated for part-time employees based on agreed hours).
  • 11. Performs other related duties as required.

    12. Attends annual safety review.

    High School Graduated or Equivalent Required, Associates and Bachelor Preferred. Drivers Licensce Required. Basic Life Support Certification Required.
