Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts formative and summative program evaluations of the JABSOM medical education curriculum with an emphasis on assisting colleagues in curriculum development.
Develops, pilot tests and field tests quantitative and qualitative instruments; conduct quantitative and qualitative data analyses; report findings formally and informally with awareness of the need to protect confidentially of study participants.
Presents program evaluation findings at the curriculum committee and other meetings.
Completes local, regional, and national surveys requiring program evaluation data.
Provides program evaluation data necessary for the completion of LCME reports.
Conducts curricular focus groups when needed for quality improvement of educational research.
Works closely with the Director of Educational Research to contribute to the scholarly work of OME by providing support in educational research design, methods, and the analysis of results.
Writes methods and results sections on scholarly projects within OME.
Remains current on the medical education and program evaluation literature.
Teaches the principles of student assessment and test psychometrics to instructional faculty at JABSOM.
Attends all OME-required faculty events such as faculty meetings, OME Grand Rounds, OME study hall, and convocation.
Master's Degree plus 30 credit hours and three years of related work experience as a Junior Specialist or equivalent in educational evaluation and research, research design, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis methodologies.
Experience in designing and implementing program evaluation, educational research, and student assessment projects.
Knowledge of statistical software.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong writing skills.
PhD and three years of related work experience in educational evaluation and research, research design, and quantitative and and qualitative data analysis methodologies.
Demonstrated knowledge of program evaluation theory, test theory, and methods.
Experience in designing and implementing research projects and/or supervising staff in conducting research projects.
Experience working in a health related field.
Some knowledge of medical terminology.
A record of publication in program evaluation or educational research.
