ANESTHESIA PAIN MEDICINE SPECIALIST

Position Description:
The Department of Anesthesia is seeking physicians at all ranks with interest and expertise in Pain Medicine. Individuals with training in areas other than anesthesiology may also be eligible for appointment in the Department of their primary training (e.g. Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry).

Education Requirement:
Candidates must also hold an MD, DO, MBBS or equivalent. Qualified candidates must show successful completion of an approved residency program in Anesthesiology, Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or Psychiatry and completion of an ACGME approved fellowship in Pain Medicine.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa.

Certifications:
Candidates must be certified by the American Boards of Anesthesiology, Psychiatry and Neurology or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as being certified in Pain Medicine by their respective sub-specialty board (or must be enrolled in the examination process). Candidates must have received board certification in Pain Medicine by their respective specialty Board or must be enrolled in the examination process.

Desirable Qualifications:
Skill and experience in regional anesthesia and/or interventional pain techniques and a strong interest in teaching and/or basic or clinical research are highly desirable for this position.
