This position is responsible for assisting in both the technical and administrative operation of the Department of Radiology. The individual holding this diverse position may be called upon to perform in a variety of capacities throughout the Department of Radiology. Performance of these responsibilities is highly dependant upon available staffing levels and patient volume. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists clinical personnel (physicians, nurses, and technologists) in the performance of their daily duties within each section of the department...
Prepares equipment and ensures their readiness for use prior to the procedures.
Efficiently utilizes HIS, PBAR, Centricity RIS and PACS systems. Schedules patient studies for all departments as assigned and maximize timely patient flow. Ensures accurate patient demographic information is obtained and input in RIS/Scheduling system.
Transports all patients to and from the Radiology and other points throughout the hospital.
Provides coverage in the File Room, Reception, and Scheduling sections.
Assists in maintaining complete and sufficient inventory of all necessary medical and other supplies within the assigned area.
Performs various clerical tasks including, but not limited to, making copies of reports and diagnostic images on CDs or other available methods when required.
Adheres to the service standards of performance and customer satisfaction standards at all times.
Transports materials and supplies between Radiology sections and throughout the hospital.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, physician and/or departmental management.
Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrates proficiency in the use of all relevant equipment such as computer, telephone, copy machines, film copy/CD machine. Bilingual is preferred, Radiology scheduling experience is preferred. Medical terminology and or Medical office work experience is preferred. Must have excellent sensory skills, i.e. eyesight, hearing and speech. Excellent communications Skills are essential. Must demonstrate the ability to work as a contributing member of a highly functioning, cooperative and efficient team. Must, at all times, demonstrate skills in delivering excellent customer service. Demonstrates ability and skills necessary to assist in the handling of patients, ages neonate to adults.
Training & Education:
High school diploma required.
1-2 years of work experience within a health care/Pediatric environment is highly preferred. Radiology scheduling experience is preferred. One year Radiology technology education is preferred.
