Provides personal injury and occupational injury analysis for Risk Management Department.
Compares actual activity to projections. Works with business leaders to analyze the development of claims, and support the implementation of processes that result in improved performance. Must be able to use crystal reports writing SQL queries to retrieve data from Risk Management System (RMS).
Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
Data integrity - review various reports to ensure accuracy of data input by claim personnel.
Monitor invoices and claim payments to explain budget variances.
Develop and utilize financial model to compare injury activity to actuarial projection.
Develop and utilize financial model to monitor the PI cash account and reconcile to GL daily.
Assist accounting with monthly reconciliation of cash & RRB accounts.
Provide changes for ST cash forecast to finance as activity changes.
Write & run Crystal Reports as requested by internal and external business partners.
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related major field of study
3 or more years of experience in Accounting or Finance with experience in writing SQL queries
In addition to meeting the above qualifications, any of the following are preferred:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Risk Management
5 or more years of experience in Accounting or Finance
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of Crystal Reports within Business Objects
Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including accounting spreadsheets, journal entry support, Oracle general ledger processing and account reconciliations
Railroad industry knowledge
Knowledge of Hyperion Essbase
Microsoft Office skills
