The Human Resources Generalist II is a member of the HR Service Team providing research, analysis and resolution on employee, applicant and retiree issues while delivering optimal service to these groups. Utilizes a broad knowledge of HR policies and procedures to resolve and address issues. Accurately responds to questions and conducts research of issues, service, operational policies/procedures and/or transactions. Interprets, resolves complex problems, runs reports and makes recommendation to management. May confer with or escalate issues to subject matter experts on staff. Performs and carries out a variety of professional human resources level duties in employee relations, compliance, compensation, training, recruitment and benefits.

  • Serves as Human Resources Generalist providing advice and making decisions on issues of significance within the HR Service Team and preforming key responsibilities related to compliance, recruitment, employee relations, training, compensation and benefits.
  • Represents Human Resources team as the point of contact for analyzing, addressing and researching employee, applicant and retiree issues and handles each in a manner that achieves an optimal service experience.
  • Manages ADA, Workers Compensation, and Employee Leave cases (e.g. FMLA, Disability, Parental) including all communications with the employee and management, tracking, approval, and compliance with applicable laws/policy.
  • Utilizes a broad knowledge of Human Resources functions, policies and procedures to interpret and resolve employee inquiries within established guidelines.
  • Conducts exit interviews and team transfer discussions with employees to collect information to assist in evaluating management methods and practices.
  • Uses a variety of tools and information to monitor and report on systematic issues and highlight to management areas for improvement and identify appropriate information to send employees on a regular basis to keep them apprised of key dates, events, policies and other benefits.
  • Serves as employee liaison to research and resolve concerns up to and including escalating to subject matter experts.
  • Contributes to HR knowledge database, including the creation of new and updates to existing policies and procedures.
  • Handles employee service monitoring and DOL compliance reporting.
  • Manages employee record system.
  • Facilitates process improvement analysis/documentation by working directly with other members of the HR-OSM team to ensure positive experience by employees.
  • Administration of benefit programs including health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, pension, retiree medical, 401(k), workers compensation, in accordance with plan provisions and legal regulations.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • PHR/SPHR preferred
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of Human Resource experience
  • Prior Benefits and Employee Relations experience preferred
  • Excellent customer/employee service skills
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration, effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience with listening and eliciting information effectively.
  • Self-motivated and highly detailed oriented
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks, requests and responsibilities
  • Strong organizational skills and efficiency
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees while providing a high level of security and confidentiality
  • Strong technology skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)

  • Previous experience working with all management levels.
  • Self-starter, motivated, organized, detailed-oriented and able to handle simultaneous projects/priorities and work both independently and as part of a fast-paced environment.
