Major Responsibilities

The Sr. Commercial Business Analyst is responsible for building capability and executing strategy to maintain and execute special pricing scenarios that drive incremental commercial revenue. The Sr. Analyst interacts across functional business areas to produce competitive pricing offers and coordinate logistic solutions. The Sr. Analyst maintains an objective view of price vs. profitability and sales to understand how bids, pricing, etc., impact gross margin for total DIFM and total company. The Sr. Analyst most often operates independently to deliver business objectives through assigned projects, working with key stakeholders across the business to create project plans and design guidance while maintaining time, scope, quality and budget.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Analyze current and historical price trends to identify actionable opportunities, develop ideas and make recommendations for optimal financial performance of special pricing scenarios

Collect and analyze data, providing objective insights/what-if scenarios/business justifications to leadership evaluating opportunities, supporting the strategic and operating plans of the business

Analyze completed Bid Desk transactions and make recommendations for improvement; address basic bid processing issues

Establish a library of product specific and value prop (inventory/availability) specific decks for use in customer presentations, preparing management-level financial results reports, future plans and forecasts

Coordinate execution of pricing programs with Commercial Sales team

Provide consistent, knowledgeable customer service

Serve as primary contact and escalation point for special pricing programs

Merchandising/Inventory Provide reporting and forecasting of pricing programs; recommendations and results for approval by Merchandising, Sales and Inventory

Sales and Sales Management Align efforts to execute pricing programs based on business opportunities; create customer-specific presentations/deals; communicate price change information to enable execution

Accounting Understand rebate collection process and its effects on net margin; work directly with accounting department to resolve any discrepancies regarding bid pricing

Work with Commercial Effectiveness, Internal Communications, Finance to execute pricing programs or provide analysis/training information

Process Improvement
Drive change in company price bid methods and serve as a resource for system/process enhancements; identify risks and opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements to increase overall bid processing efficiencies

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Software (including MS Project, MS PowerPoint); and the ability to quickly learn and use job specific computer programs such as AS400 (basic programming skills a plus)

Project Management experience preferred

Experience providing financial analysis, forecasting and reporting for Pricing, Inventory, Merchandising or Logistics

Demonstrated analytical skills; ability to develop and communicate customer insight findings and recommendations; providing insight and creating actionable strategies for pricing programs

Demonstrated problem solving capabilities; ability to operate in a complex, rapidly changing environment while adhering to tight schedules and budgets, balancing multiple projects in varying degrees of implementation

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills; ability to effectively present information, respond to customers across all levels of the organization; and cultivate relationships with internal and external customers to achieve business objectives

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Math or Statistics; and 3-5 years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
