Functions as a technical leader in support of infrastructure and application team environments. Provides implementation and support, builds new databases as necessary, maintains existing databases and troubleshoots system defects and problems. Supports multiple distributed environments to monitor the systems for recoverability, efficiency, reliability, availability and data integrity. Maintains a familiarity with new and currently installed releases in order to provide support and direction on the effective use and continued growth of the systems.

Key to Sutter's business plan, the role of Sutter Health Information Services is to make electronic data and communications available to Sutter Health employees, providers and patients to support the health and well-being of the community, enhance patient care and safety, and improve business processes and performance. Information Services (IS) key approaches to meet these needs consist of the Applications, Telecommunications, Project Management, Web, and Technology. We continue to review IS optimization across our affiliates, regions and entire enterprise.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Licensure:
A BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Certification may be required.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
  • Database administrator experience as typically acquired in 6 to 8 years.
  • Install, configure and tune MS SQL (2000, 2005, 2008) running on Windows platform.
  • Install, configure and tune Oracle (9i,10g,11g,RAC) or DB2 (8,9) running on Windows or AIX/Linux platforms.
  • Design and develop SQL database procedures, views, functions, constraints, triggers and scripts in SQL, T-SQL and PL/SQL
  • Develop packages with SQL Server DTS and/or SSIS.
  • Set up and configure ODBC connections and troubleshoot ODBC issues.
  • Support databases for complex, distributed and multi-tiered applications.
  • Implement and support SQL Server on clustered, mirrored and replicated systems.
  • Windows Server.
  • Unix or Linux.
  • Support connectivity to 3rd party Reporting tools (Crystal Reports with ODBC).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Committed to exceptional customer service.
  • Clinical environment experience is preferred.
  • Experience with 3rd party ETL (Informatica) and BI (Cognos) tools is desired.
  • Data warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with data modeling tools (Toad) to develop database schemas is desired.
  • Experience with Informix, Sybase and MySQL is desired.
