Plans, coordinates and supervises personnel in the installation of driveways, cross line and sideline pipe, pothole and skin patching, highway pavement edges, shoulders, cleaning, and grading of ditches and other highway surface repairs. Supervises the maintenance and upkeep of the St. Stephen Section Shed maintaining the building, yard, and all assigned vehicles and equipment. Maintains weekly and monthly reports, time sheets, cost records, prepares performance planning stages and evaluation documents for assigned personnel, and other related personnel paperwork. Investigates work requests or complaints and recommends and/or schedules corrective action to resolve complaints of property owners. Operates heavy equipment in the absence of regular operators. Trains and instructs workers in the operation of heavy equipment and proper construction practices for road and bridge maintenance. Supervises and coordinates crews during emergencies including inclement weather. When crew is in an “on-call” status, is available 24 hours a day.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A high school diploma and four and one-half (4.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required within six (6) months of placement in the position.
(Note): This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver’s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver’s License are available. Class A Commercial Driver’s License must be attained within six (6 months) of placement in the position.
