The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a Financial manager position in its Fiscal Service Bureau. This position is responsible for providing financial support to several of the department's business units. Duties include budget development and analysis, analysis and interpretation of business unit's financial reports, assisting business unit managers in understanding accounting policy, procedures and reports, development and implementation of internal controls, grant monitoring and reimbursement and performing special projects. This position also has primary responsibility for completion of the DGS annual CAFR financial reports and schedules. This position also supervises the maintenance of the Department's fixed asset records.

Minimum Qualifications

Significant knowledge of governmental accounting.

Work experience at the senior accounting or managerial level.

Knowledge of and/or experience with federal grant accounting and reporting requirements.

Demonstrated ability to independently establish, maintain, evaluate and improve financial processes and a strong working knowledge of automated financial applications.

Ability to supervise and manage the work product of others.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the Commonwealth's accounting policies and procedures.

Graduation from a college or university with major studies in Accounting , Business Administration or closely related curriculum.

Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and/or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM)

Experience using CARS and FINDS.
