Principal Software EngineerAre you a Principal Software Engineer experienced with raster imaging, vector graphics, embedded systems development, and algorithm development?Are you capable of producing algorithm and system designs, and implementing those designs in highly efficient, portable C code that operates efficiently in a memory-constrained environment?If so, then you might have found a professional home at Monotype!In this role, you will be the lead developer responsible for maintaining and advancing our iType font engine. You should be someone that can bring innovative algorithmic and software designs to reality while understanding and working within the constraints of the existing product. Additional responsibilities for this new position include: Thorough and on-time delivery of all assigned software projects and tasksCreate or modify code to implement new technologies, add new features, and improve performanceDevelop test and demonstration applications and for characterizing system performanceAnalyze and debug system problems, provide fixes, or work with others in finding solutions to problemsDevelop and implement new data compression technologies, optimization approaches, data caching and memory management techniquesCoordinate with product owners and software engineers, bridging market needs to technical execution as a key member of an Agile scrum team Requirements: BS in Computer Science or Engineering, 7+ years of related experience Proven expertise in application domainSkilled with object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, and new/advanced programming languagesMust have experience with computer graphics or image processing. Experience with rasterization algorithms or code is a strong plusMust be familiar with fixed-point math operations and algorithms as well as bit-level operationsFamiliarity with different embedded processor architectures and operating systems and their impact on software performance and optimizationMust have experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Linux compiler and debugging toolsSome experience with scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.) is a plus Fluency in C, C++ Excellent working knowledge in Linux and WindowsStrong debugging skills.Ability to write clearly and precisely communicate technical information effectivelyStrong facilitation and team collaboration skills Who Are We?
