JOB Description: IT Applications Specialist

Overview :

The IT Applications Specialist is responsible for implementing, supporting and integrating the applications used by DDC to run it’s day to day business. This includes our Intranet and knowledge base applications, as well as other assorted business applications. Excellent technical skills are a must. Qualified candidates will have at least 3 years of proven success deploying and supporting business applications, specifically Intranets and knowledge bases. Experience in a fast-paced agile environment with minimal supervision is required. The Applications Specialist must be an enthusiastic problem solver and thrive on being engaged at all levels of applications projects.

Responsibilities :

  • Oversight of technical implementation, support and maintenance of DDC Intranet and knowledge base applications
  • Champion the adoption of internal applications by DDC staff
  • Work with management, Business Analysts, and subject matter experts to understand and interpret business needs
  • Serve as central coordinator between departments for implementation of technical aspects of Intranet and knowledge base systems
  • Define and own configuration and change management processes for internal applications, ensuring no disruptions to day-to-day business
  • Establish and document appropriate monitoring, maintenance and support processes in order to provide highly available and high performing environments; specify tools and practices that support those processes
  • Serve as functional expert and technical liaison to business for all IT supported applications
  • Define and oversee creation of technical architecture for all IT supported applications
  • Document internal application systems, including configurations, processes, and system policies
  • Work with training team to develop appropriate application training resources for end-users
  • Prioritize requests for enhancements and day to day support issues
  • Work with system administration staff to:
  • Define requirements for hardware platforms to support IT applications
  • Define requirements for uptime and monitoring of IT supported applications
  • Coordinate configuration changes, patches, and upgrades to IT applications within specified change and preventive maintenance windows
  • Assist with disaster recovery planning as related to IT applications


  • Assist in defining roadmap for ongoing utilization of IT applications to include further implementation of existing features and planning for new functionality
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager, IT Infrastructure
  • Qualifications :

    The Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ experience in supporting the implementation and ongoing maintenance of a company’s internal applications, including Intranet, knowledge base, and other business applications. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Atlassian Confluence preferred. Experience defining rules-based workflows is desired. BS in IT, Software Engineering, or related field preferred, but comparable work experience will be considered.

    • Configuration of IT application software, including Microsoft and Atlassian products
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
    • Strong analytic and troubleshooting skills
    • Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs
