Position: Private Elementary School Principal; Head of Schools; Dean of Edu cation and AdministrationReports To: Regional DirectorDept.: OperationsBonus Eligibility: YesFLSA Status: ExemptDate Created: 1/04/2010 Position Summary: Provides effective and instructional leadership for his/her staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive educational program and overall operations of the school in accordance to Phoenix Childrens Academy procedures and initiatives. Essential Functions: Education and Curriculum- Ensures successful implementation of approved PCA curriculum by providing and maintaining quality educational programs.- Maintains compliance with accreditation and state licensing requirements (B&A and Preschool Programs) as well as all applicable state and federal laws, and PCA policies and procedures.- Extensive knowledge and understanding National and State Education Standards and maintaining the school at a level exceeding these standards. - Practice effective counseling and advising of students and parents while fostering a safe learning environment.- Emphasizing students achievement and create an environment that nurtures and promotes childrens development and well-being. - Maintain health and safety standards as mandated by DSS, including but not limited to medicines, medicine log, first aid, emergency supply kits, play ground inspections and accident/incident log.- Ensures environment maintains safe, organized, and meeting the high quality standards of PCA. Leadership and Managing Performance- Upholds PCA standards and set the example by consistently modeling professional leadership, management and instructional skills while interacting with others. Demonstrates consistency in words and actions.- Ability to manage a faculty team of 25 or more.- Clearly communicate PCA standards, guidelines, and policies to all staff and stress their importance to the organization.- Makes self approachable and acts as a mentor and guide for all employees in the organization.- Listens intently and remain open to new ideas, suggestions and concerns.- Holds self and others accountable for decisions, responsibilities and performance goals. - Helps others manage the pace and pressure of the job and avoid stress.- Creates contingency plans to address immediate and unexpected challenges.- Practice professional code of ethics and respect confidentiality. - Respond positively to challenges and constructive feedback. - Be knowledgeable and current in administrative techniques, subject content, and learning processes. Financial Management- Analyzes financial profit and loss results, customer satisfaction measures, and other key performance data in order to make the best decision for their school. - Manages school to achieve or exceed planned financial and enrollment targets.- Operates within budget and demonstrates and understanding of the budgeting process.- Reviews budgets and attains budgeted objectives.- Continually seeks ways to manage and reduce expenses without sacrificing quality or service; balances profitability with priorities related to employees and customers.- Strong attention to detail and covers all information effectively and systematically. Additional Responsibilities: - Assist in the planning, implementation and operation of successful and creative before and after school programs, extracurricular activities/clubs, summer programs and all other enrichment and ancillary programs.- Position may require more than 40 hours a week and often include evening and weekend activities.- Attend all mandatory meetings, workshops, webinars and other develop training meetings.- Seek out grants and accreditation assistance that are available.- Network with other schools to keep abreast of ongoing issues. - Access and oversee maintenance of building, grounds and transportation of vehicles. Handle in house small maintenance issues and report following the PCA guidelines.- School - Community Group Involvement Education, Experience and Skills Required: - Meets minimum preparation and experience required with state licensing standards for Elementary Principal. This includes but not limited to; criminal background screening, finger printing, etc. - Masters degree in Education and/or Education Administration from accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years experience in elementary education.- Comprehensive knowledge of National and State Education Standards, OSHA Regulations, Fire and Health Regulations and Educational Programs.- Strong knowledge of Nutritional Standards for schools.- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.- Must meet and maintain a PCA driving requirements and regulations.- Management and teaching experience.- Communicates clearly, concisely and respectfully with both verbally and written skills. Internal/External Interactions:Internal InteractionsThis position requires interacting internally with all levels of the organization, providing leadership, management and vision. External InteractionsThis position requires interacting externally with current enrollment and prospect parents, external curriculum activities and vendors. Leadership Responsibility:This position has high-level school supervisory responsibilities, PCAs mission, core purpose and promise is communicated and providing mentoring all levels of the school.
