The Director of Information Technology supports the mission of Melwood by overseeing the daily operations of the Information Technology department. Responsibilities include management of technical staff members; frequent interaction with technology vendors and with business leaders throughout the organization; application management; enforcement of technology policies; and project planning and oversight. The position requires excellent planning and communication skills, technical competence, and an orientation towards organization, detail, and problem solving.
Lead IT operational and tactical planning to achieve department goals by prioritizing IT initiatives and by coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
Oversee a small team of technical staff members, prioritizing operational tasks, establishing accountability for performance, developing short & long-term goals, providing an escalation path for technology issues and promoting best practices for technology management and support.
Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development.
Assist in the preparation and management of the Information Technology Department budget as well as the Corporate Capital Information Technology budget.
Develop and maintain strong relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including vendors and partner organizations.
Responsible for the management of the overall computer and telecommunication environment at Melwood's corporate and remote locations according to the organization's strategic technical goals. This includes support for network systems, computers, applications, databases, and communications systems.
Recommend, execute and oversee the acquisition of hardware and software solutions, mobile devices, and ongoing technical services, to the best advantage of our organization.
Engage with members of the senior management team to increase visibility and customer satisfaction.
Utilize strong project management skills to monitor, manage and report on IT initiatives.
Develop and implement informal and formal technology usage training
Review, maintain and execute enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution
3-5 years' experience in technology management, including vendor management, project management, and/or direct supervision of technical staff
Experience in working with third-party service and solution providers, including evaluation and selection, price negotiation, accountability, and escalation
Demonstrated skill in network & desktop management - Windows Server 2008, MS Exchange, Active Directory, TCP/IP management, Cisco, wireless management, Win 7
Experience in mobile device management (procurement, support and security) preferred
Strong technical aptitude and knowledge, with a passion for keeping up with emerging technologies
Versatile, flexible and highly adaptive to a rapidly evolving business environment
Strong customer orientation, with the ability to understand and comprehend users' needs
Pays close attention to quality and details
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a self-starting attitude
Strong oral and written communications skills
