VP, Sports Marketing

Fleishman-Hillard’s New York office is seeking an enthusiastic and creative sports marketing and communications executive to play a key role on high-profile, national sports business accounts and to further develop the agency’s growing specialty in communications aligned with sports. This is an exciting career opportunity for an experienced PR specialist with a passion for sports marketing to work with a seasoned, fast-paced team, assisting national clients with their public relations and communications activities.

Our clients include AT&T, Papa John’s, Gatorade, Buffalo Wild Wings, Rawlings, EA Sports, Visa, Callaway, BMW USA, the United States Golf Association, and teams from MLB, NHL and the NFL, among others.

Responsibilities include:
Create, implement, and plan communications strategies and programs for a diverse complement of sports-related clients.

Develop strong client relationships, ensure high levels of client satisfaction, and provide outstanding client service and results.

Maximize existing and new relationships with top-line sports-sponsoring clients and influential partners, news media and third parties.

Implement on-line and social media communications strategies to support client’s needs.

Organize and stage regional and national events.

Develop solid relationships with clients and influential partners and third parties.

Mentor and develop junior staff and lead inter-office, interdisciplinary project teams.

Actively seek new business opportunities by attracting new clients and growing existing accounts.

Manage account teams to ensure that client needs are met on time and on budget.

Qualifications:
Successful candidates must be results oriented, have a solid track record of effective media relations, strong writing, strong organization and acute attention to detail.

Additionally, candidates should have:
8 – 10 years of experience working in public relations, with previous experience working in an agency environment.

At least 4 years of experience in sports business, sports sponsorships and/or working with major sports-related brands.

Strong ability to interface directly with clients and senior executives.

A proven track record of successfully building business.

Understanding the sports business industry with relationships at the executive and senior communications levels.

Creative, energetic team player who is results-focused and willing to go the extra mile for clients.

Strong writing skills across a variety of applications, including video, online, news materials, promotional materials, and speeches.

Excellent presentation and verbal skills is a must, with previous experience offering public relations counseling to senior executives.

Experience in organizing and staging events (i.e., news conferences and promotional events).

Experience in managing communications issues.

Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects and clients.

Ability to establish budgets and manage programs to budget.

Ability to form and lead cross-disciplinary teams.
