The Risk Management Specialist will provide risk expertise to both the banking and trust and fiduciary business lines through the execution of risk management tools. The Specialist will create a partnership with those business lines through frequent interaction with business line and internal risk management leads, and will provide advisory services during business line projects and initiatives. The position requires a strong background in risk management and in the use of risk monitoring tools, with a solid understanding of the banking industry.
Corporate Risk Management is a centralized risk management function that manages and governs risk at both an enterprise and business line level. Through the use of an evolving risk framework, business line facing tools are leveraged to conduct risk analysis and inform an enterprise assessment of risk. Tools centrally managed include Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), internal and external operational loss analysis, scenario analysis and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs). The associated governance structure includes frequent interaction with business line managers, embedded risk managers and risk management committees.
Partner with business lines to establish and execute risk management best practices from a corporate risk management perspective.
Assess the risk of new or modified products, services, markets and distribution channels, and advise management of potential risks and concerns.
Actively lead business units with efforts to adhere to corporate risk management policy (e.g., RCSA, internal and external loss, KRI, and scenario analysis data).
Lead cross-functional teams to identify, assess and mitigate current and emerging risk events.
Advise management regarding potential risk management issues and identify corrective action to be taken.
Prepare and present updates and communications to various levels of management.
Manage and/or participate on projects that impact the enterprise-wide risk management of the organization
Develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory guidance.
Correct and monitor process deficiencies uncovered by audits and Federal/State exams
Perform other assignments/projects as requested by management
Basic Skills Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business related field or Economics required. Master's Degree preferred.
Five or more years experience in risk management capacity within the banking or financial industry.
Experience leading cross-functional product teams.
Experience with presenting to various levels of management.
Strong and effective verbal and written communication and cross-functional collaboration.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Project management experience preferred.
Knowledge of basel rules and operational/enterprise risk management framework best practices is preferred.
