Acts as first point of contact for KP members/patients & assists members/patients through registration process under minimal direct supervision. Practices proper cash handling & reconciliation processes in accordance w/ established policies & guidelines. Makes members/patients & their needs a primary focus of one's actions; develops & sustains productive member/patient relationships. Actively seeks information to understand member/patient circumstances, problems, expectations, & needs. Builds rapport & cooperative relationship w/ members/patients. Considers how actions or plans will affect members/patients; responds quickly to meet member/patient needs & resolve problems.

Essential Functions:
Serves as Ambassadors for KP by exhibiting respectful, professional, courteous & friendly behavior towards & around our patients & members & supporting the member/patient experience
• Greets & determines patient needs
• Requests identification to properly register patient for services
• Uses available resources to determine patient account status
• Selects or creates the appropriate account type at time of registration for the following benefits, eligibility, patient liability, third party, coordination of benefits, venture programs, automobile insurance, workers' compensation insurance, fee for service, or services for non-members
• Identifies, interprets, captures and/or collects patient's financial liability at point of service
• Provides documentation of transaction to the patient
• When appropriate, provides information & has expert knowledge of KP & its health plan portfolio, services & business cycle ie, explain specific member benefits, identify clinic locations & services offered, & clarify KP processes
• Ability to recognize & to follow appropriate procedures for medical & non-medical emergencies
• Consistently demonstrates the ability to prioritize & multitask as it relates to the member experience
• Demonstrates critical thinking & problem solving during challenging patient interactions & situations
• Practices proper cash handling & reconciliation processes in accordance w/ established policies & guidelines
• Meets and/or exceeds regional & departmental performance standards
• May be responsible for ordering & maintaining monies for petty cash & change orders
• Other related duties as assigned
• Medical office environment includes working in proximity to sick members w/ possible direct contact w/ potentially sick members
• May work in fluctuating temperatures
• High traffic area w/ constant interruptions
• Restricted space, confined by computer & related equipment w/ limited movement
• Required to remain in assigned area & adhere to scheduled breaks & lunch
• May be required to stand or sit for extended periods of time
• Some occupational lifting, up to 30 lbs
• In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the KP Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives
• Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors
• This position supports KP's code of conduct & compliance by adhering to all laws & regulations, accreditation & licensure requirements, & internal policies & procedures

Basic Qualifications:
2 years of work experience involving public contact, clerical, reception
• 2 years of work experience involving cash handling or cash balance or reconciliation to include 1 year of work experience using multiple business software applications simultaneously
• HS graduation or equivalent
• Must demonstrate strong customer service orientation, problem solving & verbal communication ability
• Must enjoy constant public contact
• Basic math proficiency
• Ability to prioritize & multi task
• Typing 25 WPM 10-key proficiency
• Must successfully pass Customer Service Assessment
• Must successfully pass product knowledge assessment test by the end of probation/evaluation period
This position is required to travel throughout the region. This position has variable days and hours.
