The Release Engineer will own the build and release infrastructure for multiple projects. This will include the processes and tools to support continuous integration and testing. In addition, the Release Engineer will have basic system administration task to help manage and implement software engineering practices and procedures. Someone who also understands the fundamentals of Software and Product dependencies keeping in mind source control management.

Responsibilities:
  • Primary owner of build and release tools and processes
  • Work with multiple project teams
  • Help define best practices for source control, continuous integration, automated testing and release management
  • Build tools for internal use to support software engineering best practices and deployment
  • Develop build plans, build scripts and automate for multiple releases
  • Provide build status to product teams and articulate build and release engineering issues in detail
  • Collaborate effectively with peers, managers and engineers to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas to deliver end-to-end quality in our technology and customer experience
  • Come up with innovative ideas to improve the build process and productivity
  • Ability to understand the Software Enterprise as a whole, and the relationships of the system.
  • Manage all Releases and push back when conflicts occur.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
  • 4 or more years of professional experience in Build and Release
  • Mastery of source control tools such as TFS and SVN
  • Basic system administration skill for both windows and Linux systems
  • Experience using and developing software for Windows and Linux systems
  • Engineering, development, product development or testing with a willingness to learn/excel in build and release process
  • Firm understanding of continuous integration and tools to manage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
Additional Qualifications Desired
  • Significant work and contributions to one or more open source projects
  • QA experience, including automated test development
  • Experience working with distributed systems
  • Power shell scripting
