Based in Dalton, GA., Tandus Flooring can be found online at Tandus Flooring is an Equal Opportunity Employer (M/F/VEV/D) DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE: Responsible for the development, implementation and management of all safety functions for the organization. Designs and directs a program to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, workers compensation claims, and exposure to long-term health hazards through guidance and safety-training of all leaders, planned inspections, skill training, first-aid care, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, new employee indoctrination, physical protection, planned job observation, rules and practices, job analysis/procedures, disposal procedures, and protective equipment. Responsible for identifying causes of past accidents. Maintains reporting and compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Develop and execute all safety and workers compensation related programs Supervise the Industrial Nurse in the performance of his/her duties Drive all safety related programs (incentives / awards, workers comp, plant safety goals, etc) Perform all safety inspections, investigations and safety related training Provide guidance and direction for leadership, managers, and supervisors Support company environmental programs as required Monitors the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards Training of employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations Verifies compliance with health and safety regulations and ensures all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines Manages the participation in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in safety or related field 7 - 10 years experience in safety field or related area Limited overnight travel required (<10%)PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Passionate about the safety of employees Ability to influence without direct authority Motivated and detail oriented Personable with employees; honest and candid Ability to perform under pressure; proven record of success Able to effectively communicate with management and associates Ability to plan and stay on focus with goals and projects objectivesTandus Flooring is an Equal Opportunity Employer (M/F/VEV/D)
