HMS Global Maritime is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual for the position of Assistant Controller in our corporate office. The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for the following job duties (this list is not all inclusive but meant to be a preview of the expectations of this position).

Job Summary
The Assistant Controller must have substantial knowledge of GAAP, IRC, FASB, organizational auditing, fixed asset accounting, and tax filing requirements. The Assistant Controller is also required to keep abreast of current industry events and must have strong supervisory and analytical skills. The Assistant Controller must have a wide knowledge base of different software systems, and have strong computer usage experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – the following are essential functions of the job but are not all-inclusive:
  • Prepare various financial statements of the company according to the rules and regulations
    of the company
  • Participate in the budgeting process and execute the financial terms accordingly
  • Review financial data of the company from time to time and ensure the activities are
    proceeding as per regulations
  • Ensure the financial activities of the company take place as per schedule
  • Prepare balance sheets and ensure all the accounts are justified
  • Make regular reports of financial statements and proceedings to the in charge officer
  • Take care of all financial aspects of the company such as preparation of salaries accounts,
    expenses accounts, income account and all other financial accounts
  • Prepare various financial statements of the company according to the rules and regulations
    of the company
  • Assist in the development of Company accounting policy and procedures and related forms
  • Ensure Company accounting policy and procedures are adhered to by operating personnel
  • Audit vessel accounting reports and packages as received
  • Supervise land-based accounting staff
  • Accounting designation and/or a Bachelor Degree with at least five years experience in a similar
    position in the hospitality industry, preferably with hotels, resorts and/or cruise-lines
  • Excellent knowledge in mathematics, financial matters and accounting.
  • A good knowledge about the laws governing preparation of various types of financial statements.
  • Excellent analysis and observation skills.
  • High precision in work.
  • Ability to produce accurate financial statements.
  • An ability to meet tight deadlines on a consistent basis.
