We have an opening for an experienced Property Claim Adjuster to work from their home and handle an assigned territory. This position will handle complex property claims involving coverage, liability issues, and moderate damages as defined by Department processes and procedures. The incumbent may be involved with litigated files for experience and developmental purposes. In states where required, obtains and maintains necessary adjuster licensing.

Qualified applicants should possess three years or more of property claims handling experience. A high school degree or equivalent required. A college degree is preferred. An insurance designation is desired. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications is necessary. In states where required, obtains and maintains necessary adjuster licensing. Must have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all personal and commercial insurance policies. Must have the ability to read and understand complex documents such as medical reports, contracts and other legal documents. Professional oral and written communication skills are critical to the success of this position. All claims service must be handled with tact, diplomacy and courtesy at all times. Must create documents that are technically correct and in compliance with State Auto s guidelines. Must be able to collaborate and develop strong team relationships with associates from within and outside the Claims Department. Must be willing and able to perform CAT adjustment duties (overnight travel involved) including, handling of ladders, climbing on roofs, proficiency in writing property estimates with computer estimated software and other physical demands involving outside property claim handling.
