With limited supervision and guidance, the Senior QA Engineer will work with the QA Manager to assist the testing team in testing fixes and enhancements.

To support our rapid growth, we are seeking talented, motivated QA Engineers that bring a passion for releasing quality products for our customers. QA Engineers work closely with Taxware® team members to ensure products and services work in a fully integrated manner as expected by the customer.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have a passion for technology and creative problem solving. This position requires a self-driven candidate who enjoys working in a team environment, has an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoys creating innovative solutions to complex problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applies defined software testing practices and procedures to drive quality and testability of products and services.

Exercises judgment in application of methods and procedures to evaluate quality products and services.

Builds productive internal and external relationships that are essential to delivering quality products and services.

Works independently, with general instructions on assignments.

Develops software testing requirements, test cases, and test plans.

Reports software defects in detail with information gathered from customers, tech support or other internal resources.

Works more independently with IT functional and business units.

Mentors others on domain or technical subject matter.

Participate in and contribute to projects following the methodologies.

Participate in and contribute to peer reviews.

Participate in and contribute to the planning and scheduling of testing.

Participate in and contribute to team building.

Participate in and contribute to the creation of Project schedules.

Utilize and contribute to the evolution of the QA Process

Participate in and contribute to process improvement.

Assess risk of testing.

Escalation point for problem resolution.

Analyzes offerings against functional and non-functional requirements

Creates clearly documented plans, designs and results

Contributes to the creation of reasonably and increasingly accurate work estimates

Learns new emerging skills functional and technical skills that are relevant to Taxware.

Technical Skills

Mastering skills in the following:
Functional/non-functional testing

Black/white box testing

Experience with Agile development methodology especially SCRUM

Writing clear and concise defect reports

Strong curiosity and desire for testing software and documentation in the best interest of Customer needs and the Customer experience

Developing skills in the following:
Performance testing (load, stress, etc. using LoadRunner or similar)

Automation (QTP or similar, Perl scripting)

Databases and SQL

Integrations, APIs, ERP financial modules

Multi-tiered, Enterprise level software

QA lab/hardware

Product installation processes

Technical software/hardware topology concepts and understanding

End to end concepts, Taxware’s Outsourced Returns business.

Personal and Business Attributes/Skills

Knowledge of software testing and quality assurance principles, methods, and processes

Accounting background particularly in sales and use tax desired, understanding of business accounting desired

Self-motivated contributor with initiative and drive

Team player and understands how own work is important to the team’s success

Strong integrity and highly reliable contributor

Great work ethic focused on project and business success

Ability to multitask in an effective and organized manor

Desire to work in a fast paced environment

Experience:
3 – 5 years of QA experience

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or Physics majors, graduation from Technical School, or equivalent work experience required.

Please note: Taxware is currently located in Salem, NH. Our new headquarters will be in the Wakefield/ Wilmington, MA area starting Summer 2013.
