Position Summary

Processes sheets and managed care referrals for scheduled procedures, surgeries, referred visits and outside facilities. Maintains all applicable databases. Evaluate outpatients and inpatients for weekend financial assistance and takes Medicaid and CMS applications when applicable. Monitors and maintains admit status changes.

Position Duties

1.

Registers and admit patients with less than or equal to 5% error rate

Utilizes Medifax, Smart Track or EDM to register and admit patients presenting to Admissions, ensuring that all demographic information obtained and required forms completed
Pre-register SDC and referred accounts prior to date of service
Monitors Admit Register daily and makes appropriate admit status changes
Utilizes Admissions Scrubber to identify and correct QA errors within required timeframes

2.

Process Incoming Referral Requests, Screens for Financial Assistance

Complete process for incoming referrals within 14 days
Follows up on referrals not completed by physicians within 14 working days
Documents and returns all phone calls within 24 hours
Screens and takes an average of 2 CMS applications per month

3.

Maintains Current Reminder List, Account Follow-up and Dashboard Review

Work and resolve reminders within 5 - 7 days
Responds to follow-up requests within 24 hours
Conducts appropriate follow-up on all assigned accounts including complete and detailed B/AR comments
Utilize Dashboard to verify financial class and provide applicable financial assistance
Reviews Surgery Schedule daily to ensure that procedures requiring prior authorization have been obtained

4.

Maintains Medicaid Stats, Processes Face Sheets and Daily Referred Lists

Verifies insurance and Medicaid benefits 15 days prior to date of service or 7 days for Radiology services.
Ensures that pre-certification, pre-notification, prior authorization or referral is received for each account with a financial class of insurance and/or Medicaid
Screens and takes an average of 8 Medicaid applications per month
Appropriately refer all STAG and high dollar Referred self pay accounts to Financial Counselor

Position Qualifications

Education Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Experience Requirements

6 months total experience required

  • which includes 6 months of in a medical or clinical setting with basic knowledge of medical terminology experience preferred experience

2 years customer service experience experience preferred experience
