The AREVA Reactors & Services Business Group:
The Reactors and Services Business Group combines the nuclear reactor design and construction activities and the products and services activities necessary for the maintenance, operation, modernization, and improvement of power plants. It also includes vessel propulsion nuclear reactor and research reactor activities. AREVA is currently constructing four EPR™ reactors, of generation III+.

AREVA is seeking 2 Radiation Monitoring Systems (RMS) Engineers for our CANBERRA location in Meriden, CT.
These engineers will be responsible for the design, layout, test and evaluation of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for this rapidly growing product-line.
Responsibilities and duties include:
Design, layout, test, and evaluation of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
Under limited supervision, conduct system design and development, concept layouts, as well as the interpretation and implementation of customer specifications.
Provide assembly, manufacturing, and project management support.
Conduct design reviews and cost/time/risk evaluations.
Provide work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
BSME or BSEE required.
5-10 years Systems Design experience, at least a portion of which should include project management responsibilities.
Excellent communication skills, ability to convey thoughts and understand direction.
Initiative and able to work independently and in small groups.
Good planning, scheduling, and organization skills.
Familiarity with mechanical drive systems: gearboxes, screw, chain, and motors.
Ability to sketch concepts in details.
Understanding and experience with fabrication/machine shop techniques.
Experience in weldments, sheet metal, and plastic components and assemblies.
Familiarity with 3D Modelling/Inventor/Solidworks skills
Familiarity with finite element modelling/analysis of 3D solid models
Perform classical engineering analysis on designs, conduct engineering stress analysis, fatigue, vibration analysis using both conventional engineering analysis and through computer simulation software.
Proficient computer skills
Strong technical and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Produce engineering documents including assembly drawings, installation drawings, service manuals, and engineering test specifications.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position
MSME or MSEE preferred. BSME/EE with extensive experience can be substituted for advanced degree.
Nuclear and/or Radiation Monitoring Systems (RMS) experience in a nuclear power plant preferred.
Cost estimation and analysis experience.
Basic understanding of electrical engineering.
Working knowledge of Engineering Change Order processes and doc management.
Working knowledge of SAP business ERP system for bills of material, project management.
Sporadic (10%) domestic travel.
