Compiles information into workable plans for use by Design Specialist and Engineers for an assigned department. Performs field and office technical engineering-related work for compliance with federal, state, and local laws, codes, and ordinances
Reviews construction drawings, plans, specifications, and final plats for building construction and reviews plans and specifications for roads and bridges to ensure compliance with pertinent codes and accepted engineering practices.
Processes customer complaints and questions regarding construction and site plan conditions, zoning and related topics.
Interprets code and ordinance requirements.
Performs or authorizes field and laboratory testing of construction materials.
Makes engineering and cost computations in the performance of topographic, cross-section and other engineering land survey work.
Assists in preparing and negotiating agreements with contractors.
Runs topographic surveys and cross sections, and conducts field inspections.
Secures and prepares data, blueprints, layouts, diagrams and other related documents and statistics concerning County building specifications.
Plots profiles and cross sections or acts as construction inspector on a public works construction project.
Processes, updates, and maintains various plans, maps, records, lists and files.
High school diploma or GED; five years of experience in subprofessional civil engineering work, or a related field. Experience in Traffic Engineering is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
