The US Books team is looking for a smart, analytical, driven Vendor Manager. We expect the Vendor Manager to be a passionate customer and category advocate within Amazon, with proven analytical capabilities and project management skills, extreme attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task. The Vendor Manager must be an effective negotiator, leader and communicator in working with some of Amazon’s most important partners and vendors, as well as with internal cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for retail, a high level of flexibility, commitment, bias for action and a high bar for innovation.

As part of the US Books team, the Vendor Manager has broad responsibility across a large vendor base, driving financial improvements as well as managing day to day operations for one of Amazon’s largest business. Strong analytical skills, operational process knowledge, and a passion for operational excellence are required.

Areas of responsibility include:

Vendor/Inventory Management
  • Work with existing vendor base to resolve chronic issues such as lead time, fill rate, data quality, cost accuracy etc to ensure a world class customer experience
  • Define process improvements and work with vendors/internal partners to implement
  • Maximize Amazon’s long-term business profitability
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external parties, while meeting tight deadlines
  • Project Management:
  • Work with various internal teams to help drive tools and process improvements
  • Work with cross functional teams to further automate key processes
  • Create scalable solutions for a large vendor base
  • Passionately advocate for the customer and category within Amazon

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in buying, operations/supply chain management, vendor management, project management and/or finance, with a proven history of owning/driving results
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically to solve problems with good attention to detail
  • Proven track record of process improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - prioritization, planning and task delegation
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Retail or e-Commerce experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; strong writing and speaking skills
  • Track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Experience with six-sigma/continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with Excel - 19 months ago - save job - block
