DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the labor accounting group. Analyze and develop new processes for labor accounting and timekeeping in the current MTO ERP system that will be compatible, to the fullest extent practicable, in an SAP ERP system. Provide leadership in resolving complex labor accounting issues. Prepare and present internal presentations as required and represent the organization as a prime contact with management, other affiliates, internal and external auditors, and other outside organizations.
Responsible for employee goal setting, evaluations of performance, review of work product and team building.
Determine and implement the most effective methods for controlling and processing labor accounting information, ensuring proper documentation in accordance with external and internal audit requirements. Ensure labor is processed correctly in GA-ASI’s accounting system.
Assess and implement process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and overall effectiveness of Labor Accounting personnel, systems and controls. Document all changes via policy and procedure updates/creation.
Responsible for ensuring that payroll data is transmitted timely and accurately to our Corporate office on a weekly basis.
Prepare timely and reliable periodic summaries of labor accounting records/data (i.e., metrics) and analyze the information for potential error reduction activities and improved targets to achieve.
May act as a primary contact with managers and other departments to review and respond to questions related to various labor accounting issues by interpreting Company policy, accounting principles, and other various governmental regulations.
Interpret questions and develop responses in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Overall responsibility for reconciling various payroll and labor accounts.
Research FAR, CAS, case law, and state and federal labor laws to ensure ongoing compliance with pay and labor accounting practices.
Develop and provide training, leadership and up to date guidance related to timekeeping compliance and regulatory changes.
Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline and eleven or more years of progressively complex accounting experience, including timekeeping/labor accounting in a government-contractor environment. At least five of these years must be in management. Must have a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, plus a working knowledge of Federal cost accounting standards (CAS), and FAR. Must demonstrate a detailed application of industry and government finance/accounting management principles and practices as well as comprehensive finance/accounting leadership skills including the ability to organize, plan, schedule, perform, and coordinate work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates. Must be able to resolve complex management and finance/accounting problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be an expert in one or more finance/accounting management areas. Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
CPA/MBA/CMA. Experience of five or more years managing timekeeping/labor accounting staff in a government-contractor environment. Experience with MTO and/or SAP accounting systems. Thorough understanding of FAR and CAS.
