This position primarily meets with customers to determine requirements and to publish a design for the service end to end.
This position also works to build and test a consolidated service infrastructure and iterates on that design to meet new requirements and improve service operations costs.
The skills required are to be deep and experienced in all areas of infrastructure as well as in operations process and discipline.
Required Skills This position requires extensive knowledge of the following environment components and Technical Skills in the context of delivering them in a multi-tenant, high scale, service provider, compute and storage service:
o Extensive Unix and especially Linux (Ubuntu, SuSE, RHEL) o Extensive experience designing, deploying, and managing unix based network services (DNS, SMTP, LDAP) o Microsoft (Windows server v 2008, Microsoft Windows v7, Active Directory 2008, SQL Server 2008) o Cisco Unified Computing platforms o VMware (vSphere 4.0 and 5.0, VMware vCloud director, VMware vShield, VMware Site Recovery Manager) o Core networking principles o Cisco Networking Products (Nexus, 6000 series routers, MDS Fiber Channel Directors) o Extensive storage experience (EMC VNX, EMC Atmos, EMC Isilon, Recover Point, DataDomain, Avamar) o Script languages such as Python, Ruby, Perl etc. Softer Skills include o Ability to work under extreme pressure o Maintains perspective that all service impacting issues are design problems/bugs o Ability to interact with and influence very technical individual contributors and managers. o Ability to meet with Customers to present our capabilities and/or to share best practices. o Ability to build extensive test/validation plans and organize the execution of those plans using a cross functional team. o Ability to create customer presentable documentation o Maintain perspective that changes must be tested
