DUTIES:
The Program Director/Assistant Chief, Home Health Care Service (HHCS) Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is responsible for assessment, planning, coordinated provision, and evaluation of integrated interdisciplinary program services to patients receiving care from Home Based Primary Care (HBPC), Medical Foster Home (MFH), Community Health (CH), Homemaker/Home Health Aide (H/HHA) and Home Oxygen programs at Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS). This APN is also responsible for direction and organizing program specific orientation, training and development of staff and for directing, supervision, and evaluating their performance. This APN functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and manager and provides leadership to the interdisciplinary team. The APN has additional responsibility for assuring compliance with VA and accrediting body standards, and may have responsibility as a budget control point official. Key responsibilities include:

1. Supervision and evaluation of administrative staff and professional staff including social workers, dietitians, rehabilitation therapist, pharmacists, registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, licensed practical nurses, and psychologists, in collaboration with Chief of Service in matters related to their professional practice.

2. Collaboration with other managers/administrators as the local, VISN, and national level to initiate improvement in care delivery and to identify and resolve problems impacting client care and/or program operations.

The Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) Program Director/Assistant Chief, HHCS is accountable to the HBPC Medical Director/Chief, HHCS.

Relocation expenses will not be reimbursed.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizen of the United States.

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia . In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.

Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Current prescriptive authority in the State of Arkansas

Certification as an Adult, Family or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Current certification in BLS

Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.

Experience:
Four (4) years of exemplary clinical Advanced Practice nursing experience and progressive leadership experience related to the program's scope of service is required.
