This position is primarily responsible for directing institutional housekeeping program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of establishment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Inspects and evaluates physical condition of establishment.
Submits to management recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space.
Periodically inventories supplies and equipment.
Assists to keep laundry closets/carts stocked.
Strips linen from beds and bathrooms.
Transports dirty linen to laundry.
Transports clean linen to linen closets/housekeeping carts.
Provides assistance to housekeepers and public area attendants as needed.
No direct supervision of employees in the Housekeeping Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
