PATIENT ACCESS SERVICES Registration Services Department contacts patient's prior to their appointment to update (or create) the patient's medical record, ensuring current demographics and insurance information. In addition the Insurance Verifiers contact insurance companies to obtain benefits on inpatient stays as well as some outpatient visits.

Primary Function & Major Responsibilities Conducts data quality performance monitoring, measurement, assessment and reporting to meet and exceed the regulatory requirements mandated. Recognize and identify key trends and implement process improvement strategies where needed. Assess and monitor current processes, and establish new and more effective processes to improve revenue cycle outcomes, patient demographic collections, continuous compliance, and the patient experience.Assists in establishing registration and check in standards in accordance to regulatory requirements and to account management to prevent denials. Rolls out standards and expectations to Leaders across the organization; partners with them to achieve performance.Performs comprehensive training for new employees, as well as refresher training for existing employees. Provides ongoing training and education for system wide patient access departments and staff. Performs critical compliance audits related to registration and responsibilities of the patient access team(s). This position will assist in establishing clear competencies for staff, financial accuracy and performance standards/measures.Development and standardization of a comprehensive training model across free-standing outpatient services and all four hospitals for Patient Access/Registration.Acts as a key resource for patient access/registration staff and leaders, including: Scheduling Services, Pre-Registration Services, Hospital Admitting/Emergency Services, Outpatient Registration Departments, All other Point of Service Departments.Acts as a resource for all information and registration software system software, as well as participate in software implementation related to patient access needs.Conducts testing as needed in the HealthQuest Registration System. Submits requests for changes to be made to the registration system in programming language. Approves of or denies requests to the HealthQuest system. Ensures that users requesting access to update functions are properly trained prior to receiving access.Coordinates new service request forms to facilitate the set up of new services in the HealthEast system.Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job to ensure appropriate maintenance of all privacy related issues.Performs all other related duties as requested to meet departmental needs.
High School diploma or equivalent. Lean Flow Certification preferred.
Minimum one year of experience as an Admitting Services Representative or Admitting Services Leader, including conducting pre-registrations, inpatient, and emergency room registrations. Experience conducting quality review measurements. Application and knowledge of JCAHO requirements for the Admitting Process. Experienced trainer, including creation of training material.Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrate organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy;Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean Flow, Six Sigma, etc.);Ability to learn and participate in new software/system implementations;Ability to understand the fundamentals of measurement within the performance improvement context;Knowledge of patient access and revenue cycle processes;Demonstrate ability to develop training programs based on the principles of adult learning;Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both written, verbal and classroom;Proven experience in training, teaching or instruction;Experience with change management techniques;Technical knowledge of data input;Knowledge of all compliance requirements related to the patient access/revenue cycle process;Excellent and effective presentation and oral/written communication skills, using Microsoft Power Point;Demonstrate evidence of commitment to quality and customer service;Ability to analyze error patterns and determine educational needs;Ability to create spreadsheets and graphs using Excel software;Demonstrate ability to work both independently and as part of a team;Demonstrate ability to work a flexible schedule based on training needs;Demonstrate the working knowledge and skills to provide service appropriate to patients of all age groups.Regular/Temporary
