Responsible for the design of solutions across domains. Prepares the initial requirements document for the identified supplier's). Works with the key stakeholders to create requirements for each business solution, ensure the requirements are developed in concert with and agreed upon by the business partner, and that the solution delivers the agreed upon requirements. Develops business cases for Information Management services to facilitate business prioritization of work. Works with service delivery, and other stakeholders to determine the implementation approach and schedule. Manages and facilitates the solution from inception through post implementation support in conjunction with other business and system functions as required. Qualifications and Competencies:
The incumbent must be well versed with ITIL methodology, SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) and standard project management methodology. Must be capable of assessing risk associated with the creation and implementation of solutions. Strong planning and organizational skills are essential. Ability to effectively use resources through the organization and external vendors. Must be able to work across organizational lines. In depth knowledge of current technologies and emerging trends. Retail experience is required. Demonstrated proficiency with system life cycle methodologies. Experience in evaluating business risk associated with system activities. . This role requires in depth knowledge of multiple environments, platforms, applications and technologies. Expert knowledge in applying technology for business solutions. Must work effectively with both technical and non technical personnel. Expert skills in estimating level of effort for supplier activities. Study, analyze and define the impact of the solution on other system components to provide maximum benefits to the overall environment. Collaborate with the IM organization to assess impact and or changes required within the portfolios. Review and validate the completeness and accuracy of solution proposals and ensure appropriate business approvals are obtained prior to initiating a formal request to the supplier for work to commence.
Investigates many topics with the purpose of understanding all sides of the problems involved in building solutions which perform business functions. Uses this understanding to properly guide development of complex solutions to solve issues/requirements for the organization. Proactively identify issues and risks that may impact a successful project completion. Create action plans and assign responsibility for execution. Validate that the level of effort for complex designs submitted by the supplier is consistent with the approved design. Facilitate system integration testing (SIT) with suppliers and works with the business owner to develop UAT test cases and scripts. Schedule resources required for user acceptance testing (UAT) and gain signoff before scheduling implementation.
Provide subject matter expertise in the analysis and preparation of specifications and plans for development/modification of multiple components. Provide support to the on call staff for issues requiring technical expertise beyond the knowledge of the supplier and the retained solution organization. Provide guidance/coaching to the Solution Engineer Level I & II positions.
Prepare requirements / specification documents, creates the appropriate documents required for approval and tracks the request using established procedure. Manages complex solution initiatives by employing formal project management methodology. Responsible for the timely resolution of issues during solution design, build and implementation phase. Work with the service delivery team to complete the necessary requirements for production implementation including participation in the Change Advisory Board..
Recommend components for solutions that will work well together and quickly guide the business away from combinations that create conflict and incompatibilities. Partner with the solution architect to ensure adherence to the architectural roadmap. Maintains awareness of future business initiatives as set forth in the annual business plan and participates in the development of business plans where appropriate.
Work with support organizations and suppliers to ensure proper documentation is created and stored in the procedures manual or document repository. Facilitates the creation of communication plans, ensuring that appropriate information is exchanged among key stakeholders. Acts as the primary communication point keeping the suppliers informed of infrastructure changes, application changes, data changes or upcoming implementations. Educate management and staff as to the standard elements available, those that are available in current contracts, and cost associated with new requirements. Act in a supervisory capacity for Solution Engineers on complex initiatives. Provide any budget adjustments needed and review with his/her management team.
