The position of Assistant Branch Manager has a high level of responsibility for the operation of the branch. The position will be responsible for branch compliance, in-house/outside sales, and associate matters. The Assistant Branch Manager will act as back up to the Branch Manager as needed including handling customer issues and problem solving to solidify customer relationships.
Mentor and coach staff to ensure that customer service is at optimal levels and that branch goals are met.
Both individually and through the staff, meet or exceed all established goals assigned by identifying the needs of potential and existing customers.
Assist in tracking all staff referrals within the branch. Promote, guide and train staff in achieving referral goals as outlined.
Maintains continuous program for self-improvement by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
Approve transactions within authorized limit while ensure that all Bank’s policies and security procedures are complied with. Oversees that all customer inquiries and issues are addressed and responded to in an efficient and effective manner.
Ensures that adequate staff is scheduled to meet appropriate business levels.
Have solid understanding of all functions within the branch
Balance branch daily and resolves out of balance situations promptly.
Assist in the recruitment, hiring and termination of branch associates.
Implement, distribute and monitor new procedures, policies and product information to branch staff.
Conduct monthly branch sales, operational meetings and participates in monthly branch sales meetings.
May be required to maintain cash reserve drawer and perform duties as Teller and Client Rep. when necessary.
Responsible for taking applications for consumer loans, providing customer follow-up and loan closings.
Perform opening and/or closing procedures of the branch. This includes possession of keys as well as combinations to various vaults.
Complete required monthly audits in accordance to policy, and audit associates work.
Manage safe deposit reports, including delinquency and late payments.
Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
May be required to travel to other branch locations in or outside of the region.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous banker and or teller experience required including 1 year of management experience.
Commercial and residential lending experience preferred.
Must possess a strong understanding and knowledge of bank products and services.
Previous sales experience required.
Ability to mentor and coach branch associates.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Must complete 12 week internal training program “Essential Management Skills”
Utilize sound decision making.
Must be computer literate in MS Word and Excel.
