Work Hours/Schedule(For Example: 7:00am-3:30pmor Every other weekend) 8:00 - 4:30 M-F, help with FNA's, off premise on call weekend rotation, assist with WW coverage
Primary Function & Major Responsibilities Receiving and accessioning tissue specimens accurately; preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by a pathologist.Compassionate Service - Placing the needs of those we serve above our own; treating individuals with dignity, respect and empathy.Performs all technical procedures according to established procedures and policies that meet acceptable criteria to pathologists to provide diagnosis.Develops and performs special procedures in immunohistochemistry.Performs computer and clerical functions accurately to ensure accurate test ordering and reporting of patient results.Reviews, follows and understands established laboratory quality assurance and quality control procedures.Performs and documents maintenance and troubleshooting procedures on laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper operation.Complies with laboratory Safety and Infection Control policies to ensure a safe work environment.Participates in the overall operations of the section(s) and department.Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.Performs all other related duties as requested.
Baccalaureate degree and graduate of a school of Histotechnology. Must be certified.
No experience required.Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of routine and complex histological laboratory procedures, techniques, and instruments;Ability to perform work requiring manual dexterity;Good communication skills;Ability to work independently;Good organizational skills;Excellent interpersonal skills;Strong problem solving skills;Know techniques and theory of immunohistochemistry;Ability to assess, identify, and address the special needs of patients appropriate to their age.Regular/Temporary
