The Principal Gifts Officer is responsible for developing a comprehensive development program with an emphasis on major gifts and mega gifts. The PGO is responsible for designing,implementing and sustaining a successful program, including mega gifts, major individual, corporate and foundation gifts and event major sponsorships. The PGO solicits donations,cultivates and stewards relationships with donors to develop, secure, upgrade and maintain gift income sources for the present and long term financial support of BHSF its affiliate hospitals and special programs or Centers of Excellence.
Baccalaureate degree from a four year college or university. Advanced academic degree preferred. Professional certification such as, CFRE, FAHP or equivalent is preferred. A minimum of ten years of demonstrated success in successively responsible positions in fundraising. Broad background in fundraising including demonstrated success in personal solicitation of major gifts and planned gifts, board development and campaign planning and management. Experience as a philanthropy professional in health care, academic medical facility or disease research organization with a strong preference for fundraising for cancer initiatives. Detailed Planned Giving knowledge. Raiser's Edge proficiency. Extraordinary written and verbal communication skills including the ability to make compelling and passionate presentations to small groups and large public gatherings. Ability to provide expert counsel to the executive staff and key volunteers on current and historical issues related to philanthropy.
