Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
This position is being recruited for at the Journey Competency Level under the Career Banding Program. The hiring range for this position is $35,363 - $61,603, and the salary grade equivalent is 70.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position will provide a variety of services for one of the department's core facilities that is designed to meet the needs of basic, clinical and population scientists who require analysis of human tissue. The position will be responsible for timely and accurate performance of requested services and documentation and reporting of work performed for research purposes to external investigators and for quality assurance/control, as well as technological development and billing purposes internally. ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Demonstrated experience in a research or clinical histopathology laboratory including tissue fixation and processing, embedding, microtomy, and histochemistry and immunohistochemistry skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Department prefers someone with a minimum of two years' experience in a research or clinical histopathology laboratory including tissue fixation and processing, embedding, microtomy, and histochemistry and immunohistochemistry skills preferred. Experience with fluorescence histology techniques and digital image analysis is preferred.

Certification as a histotechnologist (HT) or medical laboratory technician (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is preferred.
