Under general supervision of the Practice Manager and guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services , the Hospital Assistant III supports the delivery of care to patients in the Neurology Practices. The incumbent will have extensive knowledge of medical procedures and assist doctors during office visits. S/he must pay close attention to detail and demonstrate excellent customer service skills with patients and staff. S/he will work very closely with the Practice Manager, in an administrative capacity, helping in the transition between prior UCSF systems into an electronic medical record system. In a face-paced, deadline-driven environment, s/he will be abstracting information and assessed on accuracy. S/he will also serve as a lead resource to Practice Care Assistants and be the division’s resident Apex-Cadence expert.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience working in a health care/physician practice
  • Apex Super User or willingness to become
  • Cadence Super User or willingness to become
  • Will need to obtain any ongoing Apex training
  • Ability to teach a wide variety of stakeholders (MDs, Patient Care Coordinators, etc.)
  • Excellent customer service and communication/interpersonal skills, both over the telephone, in person, and via email
  • Able to adhere to hard and fast timelines and deadlines under the pressure
  • Can quickly to assess situations and prioritize workload
  • Able to develop solutions and make recommendations
  • Proven ability to deal with a wide variety of individuals
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work with independently
  • Current American Heart Association CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant certification
  • Prior UCSF experience
  • Prior Epic experience
  • Second language (Spanish/Cantonese/Mandarin)
  • Phlebotomy
  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Current American Heart Association CPR certification
