This position is in the Air Force Global Strike Command.

The mission of the Air Force Global Strike Command is to develop and provide safe, secure and credible combat-ready forces for nuclear deterrence and global strike operations to support the President of the United States and combatant commanders. IF APPLICABLE : Military service member's "Statement of Service" will be accepted up to 120 days prior to separation date IF a terminal leave form or DD214 cannot be provided. The "Statement of Service" must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin, your rank, dates of active duty service, the Type of Discharge and Character of Service (i.e. honorable).

  • The primary purpose of this position is this is developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of Budget Technician, GS-0561-07, and proceeding first through the GS-0561-06. Incumbent works closely with supervisor in performing the duties of the position
  • Assists with consolidating budget estimates and organizing data from a wide variety of sources according to appropriation, account object class and line item code
  • Reviews, maintains, and compiles reports on cost data and other budgetary information to support the budget execution process
  • Performs technical tasks in support of the financial analysis process
  • Provides quality customer service

GS-06
  • Independently extracts, compiles, and consolidates unrelated workload and cost data used for preparing budget estimates involving two or more appropriations with different guidelines and procedures, or a comparable mix of appropriated fund and/or revolving fund accounts
  • Independently performs a variety of tasks related to budget and records maintenance and support the annual budget execution involving two or more appropriations with different guidelines and procedures, or a comparable mix of appropriated fund and/or revolving fund accounts
  • Performs technical tasks in support of the financial analysis process
  • Provides quality customer service

GS-07
  • The primary purpose of this position is to perform clerical and technical work in direct support of budget analysis and administration
  • Independently performs a variety of complex budgetary, administrative, and statistical functions to support budget formulation
  • Independently performs tasks involving budget execution by compiling resource data from various financial management reports
  • Performs technical tasks in support of the financial analysis process
  • Provides quality customer service

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Back to top SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-05: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-04) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include knowledge of the application of procedures, methods, and techniques which support the analysis and administration of the budget. Knowledge of a range of sources, types, and methods of funding; and common budgetary methods, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and precedents.; of accounting systems and related documents used to gather and analyze budgetary information .

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-06: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-05) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include practical knowledge of agency procedures and regulations covering the processing of a wide range of budgetary transactions under appropriated funds and reimbursable accounts to process and extract budgetary data from a variety of forms, documents, reports. Knowledge is also applied to resolve problems such as balancing accounts, adjusting discrepancies, developing control records, verifying the accuracy of budgetary data, adjusting dollar amounts of accounts by line item and object class, preparing reports on status of funds and supplementary guidance concerning the form of budget estimates submitted, as well as preparing recurring or special budget reports .

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-07: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-06) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include knowledge of agency procedures and processes covering a wide range of budgetary transactions involving two or more appropriations with different guidelines or a comparable mix of appropriated funds and/or revolving fund accounts to process and extract budgetary data from a variety of forms, documents, and reports .

Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-05 higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge and skill in the application of procedures, methods, and techniques which support the analysis and administration of the budget.

2. Knowledge of a range of sources, types, and methods of funding; and common budgetary methods, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and precedents.

3. Knowledge of the accounting system and related documents used to gather and analyze budgetary information.

4. Knowledge of automated management data systems. Ability to work accurately with figures.

5. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
