GENERAL SUMMARY: Plan and implement a day care program designed for the emotional, social, educational and physical development of assigned children within the framework of Illinois State Pre K and Agency philosophy and objectives, under the direction of the Child
Care Supervisor, and the Child Care Director.

6. Guide, direct and evaluate Assistant Teachers, Foster Grandparent, Child Development
students, and Work/Study students assigned to assist the children in daily activities.
7. Guides, supervises and provides for the safety of the children within the group during
playground and gym times and field trips. Sees that children have proper outer attire for
all outside activities. Escort children to parks, on walking trips in the neighborhood and
on field trips. Actively chaperone children, including full alert attention and provide for
children’s safety at all times.
8. Plan and conduct monthly parent involvement.
9. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the developmental level of assigned age
group. At least annually, conduct an assessment with the Supervisor and Director to
identify strengths and weaknesses of the program and to set program goals for the next
10. Attend regularly to the children’s physical needs, following appropriate procedures.
11. Together with co-worker Assistant Teachers develop monthly newsletter.
12. Maintain and care for equipment in an orderly physical environment. Notify supervisor in
writing of any needed repairs or maintenance in the playroom or playground to insure the
safety of the children. Budget utilization of materials, and recommends for new materials
and equipment with Assistant Teachers and Supervisor.
13. Perform other duties required by State Pre K or as requested by the Supervisor (including
but not limited to early assessment screening, providing for adequate classroom coverage;
recommendations in the evaluation and corrective actions of Assistant Teachers, State
Pre-K staff, preparation of monthly State Pre-K reports, charge person; etc.)
14. Regularly participate and make contributions at Section meetings. Attend and participate
in regular Section inservice workshops and staff development. Minimally complete 16
CEU’s annual to meet DCFS and Accreditation continuing education requirements.

B.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education and Illinois type 4 Teaching Certificate; prior teaching experience; Ability to lead a team approach to teaching; strong communication skills;able to establish a patient respectful, trustworthy relationship with children.
