The Media Consultant is responsible for providing consultation and expert advice to our clients regarding digital paid media strategies including paid search, display advertising, and social advertising,with a particular focus on our various channels of display advertising. The Media Consultant leads discussions, recommendations and decisions regarding short- and long-term business objectives that can affect clients’ digital advertising strategies and the intersection with offline marketing strategies. He/she exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to recommendations and action plans that demonstrate support for successful working relationships, the fulfillment of contractual agreements, and the timely and thorough handling of complaints and escalated issues.
The Media Consultant develops media plans with clients centered around local initiative and OEM strategies, coordinates campaign execution with the Advertising Operations and Performance teams, and oversees the end-to-end digital paid media success on assigned accounts in coordination with the Sales and Customer facing teams. A key outcome for the Media Consultant position is identifying and recommending opportunities to increase budgets based on optimal return on investment (ROI) for adverting clients, groups and OEMs, which are in line with established key performance indicators and used as global metrics.
The Media Consultant has a high degree of knowledge related to the Advertising Performance Team’s use of Dealer.com systems and tools, and takes the initiative to assess the impact of new media channels, automotive digital marketing trends and subsequent releases on best practices and procedures beyond the automotive industry. The Strategist should display the utmost quality, confidence, and effectiveness when handling major advertising accounts, pilot programs, and difficult situations, by providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a high degree of professional integrity within all levels of the organization
Essential Job Functions
Consult clients and on search engine marketing, display advertising & social advertising tactics, including keyword research and expansion, ad creation, campaign performance tracking, audience & placement analysis, media mix optimization and budget targets based on coop and dealer funded advertising investments.
Analyze and assess the performance of campaigns with the Ad Performance team and translate quantitative and qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising campaign strategy
Present substantiated recommendations for budget reallocation or adjustments (higher or lower) to improve ROI of online marketing campaigns
In addition to single point dealers, collaborate to develop end-to-end digital paid media plans and strategies for (existing and prospective) VIPs, automotive dealership groups, and OEMs that demonstrate keen insight into their overall marketing strategies to maximize ROI and facilitate Dealer.com – client relationships
Develop strong familiarity with their brand(s), profit centers, demographics, KPI, competitors, and other marketing tactics that influence and benefit from a well-executed digital paid media strategy
Be familiar with the operational structure and products of the clients in our vertical market(s), and their use of digital marketing solutions to drive leads and support branding objectives
In conjunction with Advertising Performance Manager, collaborate with Product Architect to identify and implement tracking tools and measurement plans necessary to achieve digital media goals
Research, test and propose new methods of maximizing customer ROI that may require front and back-end development
Identify needs of internal teams and customers in an effort to achieve lower churn, higher conversions, and maintain overall scalability
Demonstrate Digital Advertising expertise through preparation and delivery of professional and engaging Digital Advertising presentations in response to customer requests for campaign analysis, expanded definition of product features & benefits, and assist Sales/Account Management team in overcoming customer objections
Stay abreast of new developments and changes in digital advertising; proactively share best practices, trends and tips with team, and actively research, test and propose new approaches to improving digital paid media rankings and results for Dealer.com accounts
Author best practices, client & industry facing articles, and case studies that demonstrate strategic insight at a granular and global level

Required Knowledge, Skills & Aptitudes
Education and Work Experience
- A bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Marketing, Internet Marketing, Website Development, Digital Media) is required.
- Advanced level of experience working directly to sell display advertising, paid search, and social advertising to automotive or related clients
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a digital marketing role, as well as consistent track record of effective participation in direct client-facing events.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills required to effectively meet position requirements.
- Knowledge of RTB/DSP platforms, attribution and media mix modeling, and new advancements in social advertising desired.
Good knowledge of web-based applications and common Internet protocols and conventions (web browsers, email, HTTP, FTP). Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel) is also required.
A thorough knowledge of all phases of the company’s operations in relationship to digital paid media; a strong understanding of DDC’s products, tools, and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate articulately both verbally and in writing, ability to manage difficult situations and difficult people, strong copywriting and proofreading skills, highly customer focused (internal and external customers), engaging and effective subject matter expert & presenter
Strong time management skills, above average ability to multi-task proactively and in response to issues as they arise, proven methods to manage self and others (both clients and colleagues) adept at problem-solving, able to follow procedures, flexible to creatively develop solutions and work-arounds as needed
Ability to employ a high degree of discretion in dealing with confidential matters; conduct professional interactions with respect; can overcome resistance (in self and others) and demonstrate an ability to compromise when needed; strive for excellence.
All members of the Advertising team are required to be certified in Google Search, Google Display, and Microsoft within first 30 days of employment. Additionally the position is required to be IAB Media Sales Certified within 90 days of employment.

Reporting Relationships and Contacts
This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Media Consulting. There is an expectation for the Advertising Performance Strategist to work independently while providing superior customer service and exercising sound judgment. This position interacts regularly with all levels of customers and co-workers in the Account Management, Sales, Support, Billing, Marketing, Development and Production departments.
This position is based in Burlington, VT and will require travel of 25% to 50% of the time for in-person client visits and attending seminars, trainings, etc.. This position requires phone work and constant computer usage. Office hours worked may vary depending on arrangements with supervisor, and requires flexibility to meet the needs of customers in various time zones. Extended hours may occasionally b e required to meet deadlines or when contributing to large projects.
