Assembles, maintains and operates the heart/ lung bypass machine, other cardiopulmonary support devices and the related monitoring equipment necessary to monitor the patient during an altered circulatory state. In consultation with the surgeon and anesthesia, selects the appropriate equipment, medications and techniques to be used to perform these duties. Consults with management and staff for the purposes of quality improvement, staff education and equipment and supply purchases. Assist and support in general surgery as needed.
Two years of postgraduate clinical perfusion experience preferred
BS in Perfusion Technology or equivalent from an accredited institution. Board Certification
or eligibility by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion would waive degree requirements.
Board Certification or eligibility with the ABCP preferred, state licensure required.
