Description

Cargill Dressings, Sauces & Oils refines vegetable and tropical oils and animal fat for a wide range of food and nonfood manufacturers. We also make shortenings, frying oils, mayonnaise, dressings, and sauces for the foodservice industry. The business operates eight oil refineries, six shortening and oil packaging plants, a mayonnaise production facility, a dressings plant and a culinary sauce facility, all of which are located in the United States. We also operate an edible oil refinery in Mexico. Customers include major food manufacturers and quick-service and casual-dining restaurant chains. Dressings Sauces & Oils is integrated with Cargill's soybean crushing activities, which provide a reliable source of crude soybean oil for further processing.

Position Overview:
The Process Optimization Engineer will focus on continuous improvement efficiencies in our packaging and warehousing activities. Currently, the day-to-day activities consume our operations team with urgent activities, leaving very little time for non-urgent, but very important activity, of efficiency gains. This role will focus on the projects, processes, and procedures to improve our line safety, waste reduction and efficiencies, and OEE results. This role will not have day-to-day responsibilities.

Principal Accountabilities:
20% Develop near term strategic and tactical action plans related to the improvement of line safety and facilitate, train and execute appropriately.

30% Develop near term strategic and tactical action plans related to the improvement of efficiencies on the packaging line operations and facilitate, train and execute appropriately.

20% Develop and maintain metric tracking at local, BU and company-wide level for tracking of progress and benchmarking analysis.

20% Investigate, design, write and complete small and medium sized capital and expense jobs related to the job responsibility (typically less than $500k).

10% Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:
Bachelors of Science in Engineering or related science

Minimum 3+ years of industrial processing or project management experience

Minimum 2+ years of production management; with ability to develop understanding of plant processes and operational needs

Team player, respectful and ability to work independently or reach out for assistance when necessary

Demonstrated strong decision making skills

Ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels of the organization

Ability to work well with others or be independent when necessary

Ability to work through others with strong delegation skills and accountability for results

Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

Prior packaging operations experience

Capital project execution

Continuous Improvement technology experience

Ability to analyze complex data sets to identify trends and improvement activities

Ability to prioritize activities to meet plant expectations and strategic objectives concurrently

Ability to build employee engagement to improve plant results

Ability to work through others with strong delegation skills and accountability for results
