Job Summary Job Title: Temporary Computer Operator

Shift/Hours/Days: Late afternoon and evening
The University of Michigan-Dearborn has an opportunity for a temporary Computer Operator. The incumbent will monitor classroom equipment as it records live lectures for distance learning distribution, trouble shoot and resolve problems as they occur. The incumbent will also provide assistance to instructors and students as needed.
Knowledge of computers and audio/video equipment is required. Knowledge of lecture capture technologies is also desired. Ability to learn specific equipment functionality and schema is required. Ability to work under pressure to quickly diagnose and correct equipment errors is essential. Strong interpersonal skills, customer service orientation and English language proficiency are necessary.
An understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems is desired. Previous experience with troubleshooting computers, audio/visual equipment and lecture capture is also desired.
Engineering or Computer Science student preferred.
Currently this classification is considered non-exempt in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
