Reporting to the Senior Director of Donor Relations, the Donor Relations Development Associate coordinates the Donor Relations department’s reporting workflow; manages, maintains, and develops the allocations database; coordinates terms development process; coordinates the annual reporting schedule; processes expenses; writes narrative reports to donors; drafts correspondence for HMS leadership communications; contributes to stewardship, cultivation, and engagement strategies for the Office of Resource Development(ORD). In addition, the Development Associate coordinates data tracking between FileMaker project module and BSR Advance database, maintains reporting & terms management database (FileMaker), helps track donor relations tasks & deliverables, and interacts with faculty, staff, vendors, and university administrators to help achieve reporting expectations of the Donor Relations department. The Development Associate will be responsible for the collection of research on medical education and biomedical research activities at HMS, coordinating expense processing, and monitoring expenses against budget. Finally, the Development Associate will be expected to format and design stewardship reports and other projects for final presentation to donors/prospects (primarily via Adobe InDesign), draft written reports to donors on activities supported by philanthropy (primarily funds focused on education, with some focused on biomedical research), and monitor spending activity on reportable funds via CREW. Participation in interdepartmental initiatives and projects will also be required.

Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience in higher education development/advancement or donor relations is preferred. The ideal candidate must be a deft writer, well organized with strong time management, able to prioritize, use discretion with sensitive or confidential information, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact well with both colleagues and vendors, strong Windows-based computer skills (BSR Advance, Microsoft Office—familiarity with FileMaker and Adobe Creative Suite programs preferred), ability to take initiative, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Finally, this position requires good judgment, attention to detail, comfort in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to remain flexible in a changing environment.
