UW Tacoma’s division of Student and Enrollment Services has an outstanding opportunity for an ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR STUDENT PLANNING AND ASSESSMENT. The Associate Director will exercise leadership in planning, developing, and administering strategic planning and assessment for the Department of Student Administration and Shared Services. Student Administration and Shared Services, includes the following functions: Strategic Planning, Assessment, Fiscal Planning/Monitoring, Human Resources, Marketing/Communications, Staff Development, Technology, External Partnerships and Divisional Special Programs such as Commencement Marshaling. Furthermore, the Associate Director of Student Planning and Assessment assists all departments within the Division of Student & Enrollment Services (DSES), which include; the Departments of Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar and Records, Student Transition Programs, Student Success, Student Engagement, and Student Administration and Shared Services in the strategic development and assessment of current and future divisional student services, programs, and facilities, and divisional operations. This position will also assist with compliance functions of student committees, communications, and developing partnerships. The Associate Director for Student Planning and Assessment reports directly to the Director of Student Administration.

Specific Responsibilities:

Oversee development and implementation of program assessment efforts for the Division of Student & Enrollment Services
Provide the overall leadership and vision for activities associated with assessment including development of individual unit assessments, goal benchmarking, creating assessment forms, developing annual priorities and strategy, document analysis, creating rubrics, and training staff on various assessment methods. Additionally, ensure assessment strategies are aligned with divisional/unit strategic plans and in line with best practice standards, and consistent with national models and trends.

Develop and coordinate strategic planning efforts for Division of Student & Enrollment Services
Assist Director of Student Administration in annual strategic planning efforts at divisional, departmental and unit level. Align strategic planning efforts with short and long term Division and UWT strategic plans. Standardize reporting and evaluation efforts of strategic planning. Assist Director in communicating progress on strategic plan to internal and external partners.

Serve as compliance officer/advisor for student organizations
Ensure compliance with state and institutional guidelines by serving on the Student Technology Fee Committee (STFC), and other committees as designated. Advise students/student groups as designated or appropriate

In addition, the position will serve on Student Affairs, UWT, and Community committees and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Master’s degree in Education, Organizational Leadership/Development, or related field; Familiarity and experience in assessment, strategic planning and applicable best practices.

Three (3) years of assessment experience, or related business or administrative experience to acquire knowledge of development of assessment priorities/strategies, creation of rubrics/forms for assessment, and strategic planning.

Must be an energetic, student-oriented professional with a strong theoretical base and practical experience in strategic planning and assessment for a broad spectrum of student services, programs, and facilities

Must possess knowledge, special skills and ability to develop and implement Student & Enrollment Services initiatives, establish cooperative working relationships with students, campus departments, and the public; train, plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate multiple assignments and projects; and work independently

Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work within a multi-cultural environment.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Desired:

In depth knowledge and experience with one or more of the areas of responsibility: Student & Enrollment Services Leadership; Strategic Planning; Assessment; Administration

Experience presenting student and enrollment service related topics on a university, local, regional or national level

Membership in appropriate professional organizations to include ACPA, NASPA, & NACUBO

Condition of Employment:
