Externship Site Coordinator Needed for Medical Assisting and Medical Billing & Coding Program
Anthem College in Springfield is currently seeking an Externship Coordinator for the Medical Assisting and Medical Billing & Coding educational program. This position is full time consisting of primarily days.
Responsibilities & expectations:
The qualified candidate will ensure that the quality and quantity of Extern Sites provided is consistent with the stated objectives of the school and of industry. Also, the candidate will ensure that all accreditation and state regulations are adhered to within the scope of the externship and that the Extern Sites' atmosphere is conductive to maximum hands-on learning and student completion. (Reliable transportation needed as visits to the sites may be necessary.)
Essential Functions: Initiate, obtain, ensure completion and verify information on Affiliation Agreements with extern sites.Monitor extern student placement.Maintain communication and build productive relationships with Extern Sites by phone and/or on-site visits.Conduct introductory and exit meeting for students upon starting and finishing externship.Document extern student records.Advise extern student as needed.Address behavior issues or extern site issues with appropriate parties.Monitor student progress, deficiencies, possible outcomes and solutions.Complete, review and distribute reports to appropriate departments.Maintain current knowledge in the subject area being taught (update certifications and licensing requirements, if applicable).Other duties as assigned that are required or essential to position
Qualified applicants must have: A minimum of 3-4 years experience as an MA, along with experience with Medical Billing & Coding. Degree or Diploma in Medical Assisting or a closely related field required. CMA or RMA or NCMA or CPC a plus. Along with: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Professional attitude. Additional professional certification(s) in MBC a plus. Previous teaching experience or experience in an educational setting a plus.
