The Database Administrator/Data Analyst will work as a part of the Rush Health IT department whereas they would oversee the performance and consistency of Rush Health’s Microsoft SQL databases. Additionally, this individual would be responsible for working with the Rush Health Systems Analyst to maintain and enhance Rush Health’s data backup strategy. This individual would also be responsible for enhancing and maintaining Rush Health’s DRP strategy. Also, this individual would work with the Data Warehousing, Web Development, and Business Intelligence teams to performance tune queries which execute against Rush Health servers, and profile/troubleshoot data issues.
Must be customer-focused and interact effectively and efficiently with a variety of staff and contacts.
Develop maintenance scripts and processes to ensure the integrity, performance, and protection of Rush Health’s environment.
Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system.
Installing and upgrading the database server and application tools.
Optimize file system objects and make technical evaluations and recommendations.
Optimize database objects and make technical evaluations and recommendations.
Optimize T-SQL queries.
Assist in configuring file system and database security. This includes, but is not limited to, Active Directory, SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, FTP, and SFTP settings.
Assist in carrying out data imports according to the established timeline.
Carry out duties with a high degree of data security in the handling of data, including complying with Rush Health’s policies and procedures for data encryption and data transfer.
Identify, profile, and correct data errors and requests.
Maintain and enhance Rush Health’s DRP strategy. Assist in DRP testing.
Create documentation as necessary.
Position Qualifications Include :
3 years work experience in a Computer Science related position.
2 years work experience with SQL 2005+ is required.
BS degree in computer science, or equivalent. Someone with equivalent work experience will be considered.
Experience with and working knowledge of the following are required: SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 administration; Structured Query Language (SQL); MS Visual Basic / Visual Basic.NET; DOS; ODBC familiarity; Knowledge of various database platforms(Oracle, DB2, and MySQL); High level of competency with Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 and familiarity with Linux and Unix; Understanding of distributed computing architectures; Database design principles, preferably Data Warehouse related
Experience with the following are preferred, but not required: Btrieve, B-trees; SSIS; Awk, Perl, Sed or another text processing; language; FTP, sFTP; HIPAA guidelines; Batch files
Ability to develop scripts based upon data/environment requirements.
Ability to work and produce required results without close supervision.
Preference for someone who has worked in a financial or healthcare financial department.
Preference for someone who has worked in a Data Warehousing environment.
Must have a strong customer service orientation and good organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Must have strong problem-solving skills.
