This position is located in Behavioral Health Service at the VA Montana Health Care System. Duty location is at the Billings Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Billings, MT. Hours of work: Monday – Friday. Preferable completion of an approved psychiatric residency with Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. NOTE: Applicant's education and experience will be reviewed by a Professional Standards Board and Compensation Panel (for physicians and dentists) in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All applicants who meet qualification requirements. Unless this office is notified otherwise, applications will remain on file and in consideration for open positions until December 31, 2013.DUTIES: Seeking a full-time board certified Psychiatrist for adult outpatient treatment with urgent care/walk-in service. This physician will be an independent care provider, highly skilled in the management of patients’ mental health needs or subspecialty evaluation and treatment of PTSD and Addictive Disorders. She/he will carry an outpatient clinical workload along with assigned administrative and professional responsibilities; coordinate patient care between Behavioral Health and Primary Care; conducts history, physical exams and mental status exams on assigned patients; completes intake assessments and formulates diagnosis; and develops and presents treatment plans to the multidisciplinary treatment team. Orders all necessary laboratory and radiological assessments; initiates consults, referrals, psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy as indicated; and maintains effective and up to date documentation of patient encounters. Prefer candidates with excellent interpersonal and clinical skills for providing primary mental health care to veteran patients.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
a. Citizenship. Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.)b. Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.(4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.c. Licensure and Registration. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.
