Campus Safety Department
Qualifications : This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Management and Supervision or a closely related field. This position also requires a minimum of four (4) years of professional supervisory experience preferably in a security environment.
Responsibilities: The position will report to the Director of Campus Safety and will assume all responsibilities for the department in his or her absence. This person will often be the first to command critical incident. This position is responsible for supervising Campus Safety staff; including the selection, training, discipline, assignment and evaluation. He or she will work with Judicial Affairs and Student Services to prevent and mediate student code of conduct violations and conduct student awareness meetings. This position is also responsible for coordinating with other departments, both internally and externally, to facilitate projects, plans, programs and special events. The successful candidate will prepare the department budget; oversee all phases of payroll, including leave requests; and research areas that need improvement and seek problem solving ideas.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Applicants must have the ability to communicate effectively; supervise many campus safety officers at all sites; have first-hand knowledge of operations and budget; make quick decisions that impact the overall operation of the College; assist local Police and Fire Departments if necessary. Applicant must also have an understanding of the Criminal Justice System and Internal Judicial Affairs as well as work with a wide variety of issues that require job skills knowledge of law and compliance. The applicant may also be exposed to occasional physical exertion and disagreeable elements.
The minimum starting salary is $ 46,200 Minimal additional compensation may be granted for education and/or experience exceeding the minimum stated job requirements. This is at the sole discretion of Daytona State College.
